Summary

The Unisys Security Index showed that Mexicans are willing to take serious actions if their personal and confidential information held by organizations they do business with is violated. Although the safety of personal data remains a priority topic for Mexicans, there is still a lack of awareness regarding the actions that should be taken in order to protect personal information when using mobile devices.

  • In the case of being victims of some kind of vulnerability in the protection of their data, 86 percent of Mexicans told that they would consider changing their passwords on the websites of the organizations where the breach incident happened and 84 percent would definitely end the relationship with that enterprise.
  • 62 percent of Mexicans said they would publicly expose the issue and 61 percent would take a legal action.
  • Mexicans are not aware that the protection of their information must include some actions on their responsibility as well. A third of respondents said that they had not taken the risks seriously or even considered them when handling personal and banking data on their mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc
