The Unisys Security Index in Brazil reported an overall level of 176 out of 300, indicating a serious level of concern and the fourth highest level of concern of the 12 countries covered by the survey. Brazilian respondents reported the highest level of concern in the area in the area of national security, at a level of 214, the highest of any of the 12 countries.
Key Facts
- The majority of Brazilians surveyed support the implementation of stronger security measures for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games. 68% are fully in favor of increased control at international borders, airports and other entry points, and 60% said they favored improving the sharing of information on the population between the Government agencies.
- 49% of Brazilians surveyed support the introduction of electronic body scanning equipment in public places and the use of biometric controls such as facial exams, fingerprinting or eye scans at international borders and airports or the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games.
- 82% of Brazilians interviewed said that they prefer to visit a store or bank personally or to perform the transaction by telephone as opposed to online transactions.
