  Latest Report
The Unisys Security IndexTM presents a social indicator regarding how safe consumers feel on key areas of security.

Conducted twice a year, the Index provides a regular, statistically robust measure of concerns about four areas of security:
  • National security
  • Financial security
  • Internet security
  • Personal security
  • After months of heightened concern, Spaniards have regained confidence in security with a score of 127, the lowest since August 2007
  • Credit card fraud (68%) and risk of epidemics (52%) are both major concerns for Spaniards
  • Internet security is not a major concern (86 out of 300) as Spaniards do not use the Internet for online shopping or e-banking

What's new in the report

Spaniards have regained some of their consumer confidence with an overall Security Index score of 127 – the lowest score since the baseline study. However, financial fraud and the fear of an epidemic are Spaniards’ chief anxieties, with more than two thirds of consumers concerned about bankcard fraud and 52 per cent worried about an epidemic. Internet security remains the least worrying threat, with an overall score of 86 versus the ongoing and consistent fears about national security, which stands at 145. To improve financial security, 65 per cent of consumers support biometrics, especially if this prevents bank card fraud.
