  Latest Report
The Unisys Security IndexTM presents a social indicator regarding how safe consumers feel on key areas of security.

Conducted twice a year, the Index provides a regular, statistically robust measure of concerns about four areas of security:
  • National security
  • Financial security
  • Internet security
  • Personal security
  • Despite the flu threat, the Dutch are not worried about an epidemic with only 6% expressing concern and more than half (55%) stating they are not worried at all
  • Given the financial crisis, only 7% of Dutch consumers are worried about meeting their financial obligations, while 66% show no concern.
  • The Netherlands’ overall Security Index score is 66, a decrease of 20 points compared to March 2009 and 32 points compared to the baseline Index in August 2007

What's new in the report

The Security Index score for the Netherlands is 66, twenty points lower than last March; a surprising outcome considering the global economic situation and the threat of a pandemic. The Index score for financial security decreased 29 points to 70, and concerns over national security is at an all time low with a score of 56. Identity theft along with bank card fraud is still a chief worry for the Dutch with a fifth of consumers showing serious concern. Around half of Belgians show trust in the government and financial service providers to keep their information secure and the majority support the use of biometrics, with 94% who would agree to fingerprint scans.
