The Unisys Security IndexTM presents a social indicator regarding how safe consumers feel on key areas of security.

Conducted twice a year, the Index provides a regular, statistically robust measure of concerns about four areas of security:
  • National security
  • Financial security
  • Internet security
  • Personal security
    • 90 % of Belgian air travellers are willing to sacrifice privacy for personal security
    • 66 % of Belgians are concerned about the risk of misuse of credit and debit card information; 36 % who are seriously concerned.
    • 49 % of Belgians say they are not concerned about national security, although the those saying they are seriously concerned has risen significantly to 22 %.

What's new in the report

Ninety percent of Belgian air travellers are willing to sacrifice some level of privacy for enhanced personal security and convenience. The Unisys Security Index has also found that 66 percent of Belgian citizens are willing to submit a full electronic body scan. More than half (57 percent) are willing to submit to identity checks using biometric data such as iris scans or fingerprints. 57 percent also said they would also provide personal data in advance such as passport details.
